Prelude: Blogs & Bloggers I Love

20180919_225442_0001

It’s my new thing!  Each Thurs., I’ll share some of the posts that I’ve enjoyed during the past week, blogs I love or simply fantastic Bloggers. Yes, I know it not Thursday! I’m pitching my new thing to you beforehand and inviting you to give me your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. This will be more than a simple link up.  I’ll share a link while giving it and them the honor of what or why I loved it and you will too.

It’s a weekly hat tip to my community, a word of appreciation, recognition AND a way for me to both introduce you to each other and promote your blogs.

There are so many of you that I just can’t say enough about and I truly love but I can’t get to everyone all at once. Please be patient.  I Don’t want your feelings  hurt or to think I’ve over looked you.  I love you all!  Read, enjoy, follow and be looking for my pingback as you’ll be listed soon.

In the meantime you can help.  If you’ve written a post that you’d love to share, one you’re really happy with, or just to introduce yourself to everyone, leave a link in the comments where everyone can enjoy it.

Here’s a sampling start:

Neal Lubetsky @ Streaming Thru America
has ventured to write a book, “Uncertainty.” He pitched the idea to his followers with the prologue and I was hooked right there.  As each chapter is posted, I find I’ve been awaiting them.  It’s heartwarming, terrifying, breathless and heartbreaking.  I’m emotionally invested in the characters, the story, rife with trepidation yet I’m in it for the long haul…wherever it may lead.  It’s a book that must be written, a tale that Neal alone must tell and a reader must experience. The link I provided, takes you to chapter 8 where the entire series is listed. Start at prologue and I’ll meet you at 8!

Sunshine
Surrender To Change
One of the posts I enjoyed this week so far is a poem by Kerri Elizabeth @ Sunshine. A poem that at once sweeps you away to the peaceful solitude of simply being in the moment and releasing yourself to embrace inevitable change.

Sheila Renee Parker
wrote: I…am..A man!
About Joseph Carey Merrick, a.k.a. “The Elephant Man”.  In her post she examines his life, exposes the soul of him and whether intentionally or not, forces us to examine ourselves and attitudes in the process.

Heather Thompson @ Commonplace Book Blog, wrote The Bookshop, a review of movie vs book pertaining to this particular book, while exploring the reasons as to why we compare them, and if experiencing one, spoils the other. It certainly caused me to explore those questions and revealed a bit of myself to myself.
As for me, yes, I have seen movies then, If I enjoyed it, have gone on to read the book it was based on. I find the books to be more revealing, richer, more satisfying. I discovered that I seldomly read the book first if both are available simply because I then tend to find the movie to be a disappointment. The same is true if a movie is made about a book I’d already read. I’m almost exclusively disappointed therefore, if I want to enjoy a movie, I’ll avoid reading the book until after. lol

Our Little Red House
1920’s Magazine Pt 1
I really enjoyed the treasure of this 1920’s magazine. Call me nostalgic but I do love exploring the era’s before my time, gathering forgotten wisdoms, ways, fashions and how different the world has become. I do wish, very much that She’ll incude some of the recipes from the magazine, in the next installment!

  1. Very nice initiative and great generosity from you. I already know some of these amazing bloggers that you mention but I will visit the others soon. A weekly appreciation requires a lot of work and organization. This is to your credit and shows your dynamism. I also started a Weekly Crush last year but recently, due to health problems in my family, I have put this project on the back burner. My weekly Crush will become a monthly crush so I have the time to read the posts of my fellow blogger. Good luck to you. I can’t wait to read more of you.

      • You are very kind Laura and I appreciate your compassion. I am deeply touched by your offer. Thank you. It’s a real pleasure to get to know you better. I share your opinion about the WordPress community. The positive support of everyone is quite impressive and profitable to all in many ways. Your project is an initiative that encourages the development of this collaboration. Have a beautiful Sunday and a wonderful week ahead.

  2. What an incredibly generous and kind thing to do, Laura. Especially since it will require a fair amount of work on your part! I think this is a splendid idea! Many of the bloggers that I follow are people that I’ve become acquainted with through mutual blogging friends. So this sounds like a terrific way to enhance community on here and introduce us to each other. The WordPress community is the best. I’ve never seen a kinder or more supportive group of people on the internet. 🙂

  3. Oh my gosh, thank you so much Laura for mentioning my site. I have been having some computer problems and thought I lost everything the other day but thankfully my husband was able to transfer all my files and photos. I will have to check my pile of old books and recipes from that rock house. I am in the process of decluttering now so everything is in piles of keep, donate and throw away. My old books are treasures so I will keep those forever and pass them down to my kids. It will be fun finding some old recipes to share with you all, may be a couple of weeks though before I get to that but I will let you know when I do that. I also wish I had more time to visit everyone, there are so many great people in this blogging community.

    • Lol it’s going to be tricky, but as I read posts during the week via email notifications, I’ll star the email where I can revisit specific posts to copy link and note what I loved about. Terrific bloggers, will highlight bloggers who have been exceptionally encouraging, readiness to comment, feedback connect with others…so that one’s easy. I’ll probably dedicate a day during the week to just reading others as well instead of focusing on my own. Wish me luck! Lol💕
