Blogger Recognition Award

I am both over the moon and incredibly humbled to recieve this wonderful award from ourlittleredhouse. It’s not only so encouraging and heart warming to be recognized, read, heard in the world but to be awarded by someone whose blog I truly love and an author I deeply respect. Thank you hardly seems enough. 💕

So what is blogger recognition award?

Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to encourage and acknowledge the hard work and effort that goes into creating posts.  It’s an opportunity for bloggers to recognize one another for each of our contributions to their blog and the blogging community!

Award rules.

Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

Write a post to show your award.

Give a brief story of how your blog got started.

Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

Select 5 other bloggers to nominate.

The Beginning….

Though I was a member of the Mississippi County Writer’s Guild, National Federation Of State Poetry Societies,  won awards, published in magazines,  anthologies and written numerous news paper articles…blogging would come along much later and at the prompting of friends, family and FB.  Actually, they’d read my stories on FB and beg me to write a book! What sort of book would that be?

If you’ve read my blog at all, you soon realized that I’m all over the place which made blogging perfect for me as I’m not locked down to a single subject.  Yay! A venue that gives me the freedom to express all my crazy facets and boy do I have thoughts on EVERYTHING!

My title, All The Shoes I Wear, aptly discribes the many positions i’ve held in life to the many paths I’ve walked….not literally my shoe collection. Lol  That seemed to fit the purpose I had in mind for my blog yet….as with all things in my life, it’s taken on a life of it’s own and why should it be any different?  I did open a kitschy boutique that became the top tattoo studio in the state and had never so much as ridden a horse or been on a farm but sure bought myself a horse ranch! Go figure!

My Advice to new bloggers…

I’m not sure I qualify as one to give advice here but such as I have, I offer you.

1.  If you are anything like me, go ahead and have that idea for your blog but don’t panic if you feel it’s going off the rail.  As you begin writing, you’ll discover your own voice emerging and as it does, the direction it takes  may not be what you had planned. That’s Ok!  Allow what naturally flows from you to direct your blog instead.  I’m not saying to discard discipline but rather be disciplined in writing what flows naturally.  Your posts will be more engaging, entertaining, touching and authentic as opposed to writing that, which will to the reader, feel forced and hollow.  And, you’ll enjoy your blog instead of it becoming something that feels like “work.”

2.  This is most important,  build a community and care for it!  Read, read, read, others blogs, like and comment as much as you can.  Touch base with your community, encourage them and let them know you appreciate their hard work.  You will learn and grow through them, be encouraged and inspired by them so make it a priority to spread the love!  Your community is your greatest asset!

My Nominees…

  1. Congratulations on the award! I really enjoyed reading how you started out blogging, and your tips for newer bloggers were wonderful, and so encouraging.
Thanks so much for nominating me. I’ll have my response post up soon. 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for the nomination!! You are so amazingly kind! I love the story of your blog…though I was hoping there might have been an amazing show collection to get a glimpse of too. Your advice is just what I needed to read right now too. Thank you. I love how things seem to happen just at the right time. 😘

  3. A smiled at the explanation of your blog title. I love the title of your blog and the explanation even more. I never really thought of it before, but the number of shoes in our closet is directly related to the different roles we play in life.

  4. You are absolutely the best in my book. Not just for being a great writer and blogger, but for taking the time to truly help me, a complete stranger, with kind words of wisdom.

My life is pretty much back on track now, but I’ve never forgotten or ceased to be awed by your kindness.

    You helped me.

    • You are the sweetest, dearest person. I am always so grateful that we found each other here, that you are a part of my community and someone I thinknof as my friend. You are incredibly brave to expose your vulnerability, tenderness, raw unmasked humanity and being so authentically real. In you I find a beautiful soul, a heart that is full of warmth and a truly kind spirit. I feel blessed to know you and experience your lovely being.💕
