Life According To Laura: Running
A blogger I follow, This Beautiful Life, wrote about how she went running today after not having done so for a long time and how much she enjoyed it. I had to laugh at myself. My husband recalls how he loved running on the beach in San Diego as a young Marine and wanting to take it up again. I can support that EXCEPT… he wants me to jump on that train with him.
I ran hurdles in Jr high, that was about as much as the coach could get out of me and I only did that because my BF wanted me to try out for track with her. Laura don’t run. Uh-uh, no. I’ve never understood it. When people take off running, I’m looking around to see what’s chasing them.
I made a brief attempt at the whole jogging thing once in my 20’s. Couldn’t do it. All that bouncing about kept making the cherry fall off my cigarette. Had to give it up….the jogging. (Swimming wasn’t working out either.) I’m much more the type of person who’s not running for anything short of being chased by something that I don’t feel I can take in a brawl. That’s about the only scenario where running could possibly make any sense and trust me, I’m pretty confident in my ability to put up a good fight or at least willing to if the alternative is having to run. Haha. Luckily for me, a friend posted this on FB.
Proverbs 28:1. The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.
Well now, there ya go. Now when my husband asks me to go for a run, I’m like…Nope, can’t do it. Trying to keep right with Jesus!
P.S. have stopped smoking….still not running.

I love to jog in nature! Though I have many friends with knee problems when running avidly

I love getting out into nature! But, I can walk, hike or bike in nature. Lol Furthmore, I can just see myself found unconscious from running, having been knocked out by one of my own breasts or doing so in a corseted strangulating sports bra! 🤣

Oh dear! That’s hilarious! I follow a hiking guru when hiking in unfamiliar terrain. He shared with me a story of almost being unconscious from dehydration when underestimating the length of a trail.

That is a real thing! We definitely make sure to carry plenty of water and snacks in our packs along with basic survival items incase we should become stranded

Hi again! I just wondered if you had trouble putting a review on Amazon of “The Odessa Chronicles’? I knew someone had trouble before with Amazon. Don’t worry this will be the last time I mention it, not trying to bug you, just trying to get the word out. But most importantly I am so glad your grandson is enjoying the book! That warms my heart! ❤
Have a great day Laura and hopefully you don’t have anything chase you! 🙂

You know…..the trouble I’m experiencing, may in fact be my increasingly declining memory or simply, brain farts! While I dont have alzheimers, I clearly have part-timers!
I’m so sorry! With luck, I’ll remember to sit down and do the this evening when I get home!

After sixty-one years, I’m still searching for this runner’s high I keep hearing about. The closest I’ve ever come is a temporary feeling of satisfaction for about five minutes when I’m DONE!!! 😎 Maybe it’s all a scam.🤣🤣

I’m all for a good walk, or even a bike ride 🙂 But right there with you. I am not running. It’s bad for the knees, back and joints anyway. Hubby ran for 30 years, and he is tore up in those departments. I am 2 years older and no issues in those departments. The one major difference in us, he ran 🙂

I am exactly like you. I love a long walk and could walk for days and I’ve been wanting a new bicycle! But, drawing the line at running! Lol
