For several days now, we’ve been covered in thick dark cloud like woolen blankets. Peals of thunder preceded a deluge of water and wild whipping winds. The lake in reflexion, turning an inky black.
From my window, I reflected upon the many storms I’ve weathered in life. The turmoil, tempests, losses, the circumstances so far from my control, left me desperate and shaken.
For a split second, the clouds barely parted, exposing a thin line of the brightest cornflower blue. I wondered, why is it so difficult to keep our bearings in those dark moments? How do we become so tossed about, caught up in the frey? Is it the darkness that blinds us?
The truth of it is, just beyond, above, on the other side of that cloud…are beautiful blue skies, a sunny day. And, no storm lasts forever but dissipates in time as all the storms before it.
I am not without moor or anchor. As a person of faith, I know that in the worst of storms, I am not alone, I have nothing to fear and though I cannot see through it, my joy is on the other side.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Trust in the darkness, what you know in the light. – Laura
Thank you Laura for a reminder we all need to hear from time to time. Indeed, beyond today’s darkness lies the light of tomorrow’s hope.

Lovely post Laura and can identify with the recent constant cloudy, rainy weather affecting my mood and seeing a lovely blue sky in between really lifting my spirits.
The recent snow and ice rendered me more or less housebound for two weeks as local covid restrictions only allow one daily outing either for shopping or excercises. I really sensed a feeling of dependency. God the ice has gone and walking in between showers is more realistic.
Nature certainly does influence our lives.
Take care 🙂

I am not retired yet but my work schedule and this time has definitely given me rest and time to contemplate about the nature of reality.
